How much does a plasterer earn?
Plasterers (Stuckateure) finish and protect interior and exterior surfaces: they plaster walls and ceilings, produce stucco profiles, install drywall and carry out façade and insulation work – in new builds, renovation and heritage conservation. Gross pay depends on region, finishing-trade collective agreements, company size, specialisation and order situation. As a guide, qualified plasterers in Germany in 2026 often earn about €3,050–€3,650 gross per month; during apprenticeship around €960–€1,300 is typical.
Salary by region (gross/month)
Guide figures as of 2026. The apprenticeship column refers to dual training as plasterer (Stuckateur); qualified means practising plasterers. Actual pay depends on finishing-trade collective agreements, hardship and site allowances, employer, region, specialisation (e.g. ETICS, stucco restoration, drywall) and experience and is not a guarantee.

Job and everyday work
A plasterer prepares substrates, mixes and applies renders, pulls profiles and installs drywall and insulation systems to plan. Everyday work includes physical labour on site or in the workshop, dimensional accuracy of surfaces and junctions, and coordination with site management, painters and other finishing trades – often under deadline pressure in new build, renovation and façade work.
- Check and prepare substrates; mix, apply, screed and smooth interior and exterior plasters.
- Produce or install stucco profiles, cornices and decorative elements; fit drywall partitions, ceilings and acoustic systems.
- Install ETICS/façade insulation systems, reinforce and coat them; create junctions and seals.
- Read drawings and details, take measurements and check surface quality, plumb and level.
- Coordinate with site management, painters, tilers and other trades; organise materials, scaffolding and schedules.
- Follow health and safety rules – from PPE and dust protection to working at height – and maintain tools and machines.
